A snow leopard cub nicknamed Little Lady was born at The Big Cat Sanctuary in Kent on 10 May.

She weighed just 630g during her first health check at five days old, born to mother Laila who is part of the breeding programme at the sanctuary.

There are only 2,700 to 3,300 mature adult snow leopards left in the wild, listed as vulnerable by the International Union for Conservation of Nature.

Climate change threatens their habitat, with an expected loss of 30% in the next century.

Snow leopards are also targeted by poachers for the illegal wildlife trade, emphasizing the importance of breeding programmes for the species.

Little Lady's mother, Laila, has had multiple litters at the sanctuary, with a trainer named Simon Jackaman praised for his contribution to the successful birth of the cub.

Despite the natural shyness of snow leopards, Laila has been commended for her calm nature during ultrasound sessions.

Under Laila and the sanctuary team's care, Little Lady is now thriving.
