Hong Kong's nine-month-old twin giant panda cubs have been named Jia Jia and De De.
The names were decided after receiving over 35,700 entries in a naming contest held since February.
The Chinese characters for Jia Jia convey a message of support in Cantonese, while De De means 'success' in Chinese.
Jia Jia is also the English name of another panda who lived at Ocean Park until 2016.
Ocean Park's chairman noted an increase in visitor numbers and revenue during holidays, as well as in sales from the Panda Friends series.
The twin cubs generated over HK$2 million with exclusive VIP tours in March and April.
The twins, born on August 15, 2020, have been drawing fans to the enclosure since their public debut on February 16 of this year.
Ying Ying and Le Le, the twins' parents, have been living separately in accordance with their natural solitary behavior.
